A. Hillier “Dusty”
Branson received his degree in management from the Georgia State
University School of Business and is a 1982 graduate of the Emory
University School of Law.
Mr. Branson began
his legal career in 1982 at a private bank where he established and
managed a trust department. After two years he entered the private
practice of law with the founding of A. Hillier Branson and Associates.
The practice specialized in corporate and business law as well as
estate planning.
His experience also
includes charitable estate planning in which he assisted non- profit
organizations with formation, representation on legal and financial
issues, drafting publications to clients' donors, and assisting donors'
attorneys in structuring tax wise gifts for their clients.
Representative clients included Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta,
St. Joseph's Hospital, The National Office of The Arthritis Foundation,
and scores of parochial schools throughout the Country.
Mr. Branson has
served as a board member of The Georgia Chapter of The Arthritis
Foundation and as a volunteer to The Northern California Chapter of The
Arthritis Foundation. Other activities include service as president of
the local chapter of the American Heart Association; local board
president of the AMC Cancer Research Institute and as board member of
the Georgia Combined Health Appeal. He is also an active member
of the Emory University Alumni Association and a member of the Buckhead
Business Association.
Areas of practice
of the firm currently include Wills, Simple Living Trusts, Trusts to
reduce estate and gift tax liability, Asset Protection Trusts,
Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts, Generation Skipping Trusts,
Charitable Remainder Unitrusts and Annuity Trusts, General Powers of
Attorney, Powers of Attorney for Healthcare, Probate, Estate
Administration, and Post Mortem Estate Planning.
Mr. Branson has
written about and spoken widely before numerous groups and
organizations about Wills, Trusts, Estate Administration, Taxation,
Investing, and Charitable Giving.
He is licensed to
practice in all of the State and Superior Courts of Georgia, the
Supreme Court of Georgia, and the United States District Court for the
Northern District of Georgia.
His
Bar affiliations include the Sole Practitioner and the Real Property,
Trust and Probate Section of the American Bar Association; The
Fiduciary Law Section of the Georgia Bar; The Sole Practitioner/Small
Firm, The Lawyer Referral and Information Service and The Fiduciary Law
Sections of the Atlanta Bar; and, the DeKalb Bar Association.
